Capillary Tube

Instructions for use:
Capillary viscometers can be divided into four types according to their structure and shape: Ubbelohde, Fenn's, Flat's, and countercurrent.
They are determined by the sample viscosity. It is widely used in petrochemical industry, light industry, electromechanical national defense, transportation, coal, metallurgy and medicine, food and papermaking, textile, scientific research, colleges and universities and other units. The correct use of capillary viscometer is very important to ensure product quality and accuracy of scientific research data.

How to use Pinoy viscometer:

1. Wash the viscometer with shampoo and steamed water, then dry it for later use.

2. Adjust the thermostatic bath to (25.0±0.1)℃.

3. Use a pipette to take a certain amount of the liquid to be measured and put it into the viscometer, then fix the viscometer vertically in a constant temperature bath with constant humidity for 5min~10min.

4. Use an inflator to connect to tube D and plug tube 2, and pump air into the tube. When the liquid rises to 213 of ball C, stop pumping and open tube nozzle 2. Use a stopwatch to measure the time it takes for the liquid to flow between the two marks. Repeat the same operation and measure 5 times. It is required that the time difference between each time does not exceed 0.3s, and the average value is taken.

5. Pour the liquid to be measured in the viscometer into the bottle and blow dry with hot air. Then use a pipette to take 10mL of distilled water and put it into the viscometer. Follow the same steps as before and measure the time it takes for the distilled water to flow through m1 to m2. Repeat the same operation with the same requirements as before.




How to use Ubbelohde viscometer:

1. Take out the Ubbelohde viscometer, make a solution of a certain concentration according to the regulations, filter it with a No. 3 vertical fused glass funnel, and discard the initial filtrate (about 1ml);

2. Take the remaining filtrate (not less than 7ml) and inject it into B along the inner wall of tube 2 of the clean and dry Ubbelohde viscometer. Fix the viscometer vertically in a constant temperature water bath (unless otherwise specified, the water bath temperature should be 25+0.05℃ ), and make the liquid level of the water bath higher than ball C, and leave it for 15 minutes;

3. Connect nozzles 1 and 3 to a latex tube each, clamp the rubber tube at nozzle 1, and pump air from nozzle 3 to slowly raise the liquid level of the test solution to the middle of ball C. Open it first. Open the pipe mouth 3, then open the pipe mouth 1, let the test solution fall naturally in the pipe, and use a stopwatch to accurately record the outflow time of the liquid level from the measurement line m<[1]> to the measurement line m<[2]>;

4. Repeat the measurement twice. The difference between the two measurement values shall not exceed 0.1 second. The average value of the two measurements is the outflow time (T) of the test solution.

5. Perform the same operation with the solvent filtered through the No. 3 vertical fusion glass funnel, and repeat the measurement twice. The two measured values should be the same, which is the outflow time of the solvent (T<[0]>). Calculate the characteristic viscosity number according to the following formula: Inn<[r]>

Intrinsic viscosity [η]=----℃ where η<[r]> is T/T<[0]>; c is the concentration of the test solution (g/ml).
